So I woke up with the intention of hitting the gym before I did anything else today, but; I’m hungry. Because I’m hungry I would be distracted if I went straight to the gym, so; I decided to eat breakfast first then I’ll hit the gym in a couple of hours. A couple of hours because I can’t work out after I eat because if I do, well; it’ll be messy. Yes messy, everyone would get a chance to see what I ate for breakfast, so I wait a couple of hours.
So the first thing I did was made a pot of coffee (it’s a small pot), and threw a couple slices of sprouted grain bread into the toaster. While I was waiting for the bread to become toast I figured it was a good time to wash my dishes from last night, so I did. Coffee is ready so I poured a cup and pulled out a paper plate for my toast. By this time the toast was ready, so I pulled it from the toaster and put it on the paper plate and vegan buttered it then sprinkled cinnamon on top. This brings me to my main thought of this little story, everything is better with cinnamon on it.
Another common breakfast food I eat often is vegan pancakes (I think everyone knows I’m vegan at this point, do I still need to preface everything with vegan). When I make pancakes I used garbanzo bean flour, baking powder, Stevia (sweetener), course sea salt, olive oil, and almond milk topped with maple syrup, vegan butter (I did it again) and cinnamon. Sometimes I put fresh blueberries in the mix, sometimes pumpkin. But no matter what goes in the mix I always top it off with cinnamon. Why? Because everything is better with cinnamon on it.
Cinnamon, in addition to just adding a great taste to everything also comes with some health benefits. Some studies indicated that cinnamon was beneficial to diabetics by reducing fasting blood glucose levels, triglycerides, LDL and total cholesterol levels. Cinnamon is also thought to have antibacterial and anti fungal properties. Cinnamon is also a source of calcium, iron, vitamins C and K, manganese, also fiber and usable carbohydrate; it also aids in the digestion process.
So; great taste and health benefits, it’s a win/win. I love cinnamon, it makes me happy. Now you know that.
